Cowbridge Comprehensive School Public Art Commissions

Deadline: July 6, 2009, 5:00 pm

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is to proceed with a state of the art £16.5m development at Cowbridge Comprehensive School, with an estimated completion date of September 2010. When complete, the new school will be a mix of new build and refurbished buildings and mean the end of ‘split working’ over three sites.

Four existing buildings, including the gymnasium and technology block, will be demolished, while a further four, including the kitchen and canteen area, art block and classrooms, will be refurbished.

Following a competitive tendering process by the Vale of Glamorgan, Safle was awarded the contract to provide management services in the development of the Cowbridge Public Art Scheme.

Based in Cardiff, and working across the UK, Safle integrates art interventions within urban and rural landscapes, communities, regeneration initiatives and architectural developments. Safle will maintain links between the commissioned artist/s, the Client and other identified stakeholders throughout the design and implementation of the project.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council and Safle wish to commission artists to develop detailed design proposals for the following artworks:
