Goodmayes Hospital Phase Two Public Art Commission

Deadline: April 19, 2013, 12:00 pm

Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure on behalf of the London Borough of Redbridge and North East London Foundation Trust are working together to commission a public art project for Goodmayes Hospital. The aim is to create a high quality public art project through socially engaged contemporary arts practice.

The project is in two phases; phase one will develop the brief for the final commission (completed spring 2013), the second phase will see the creation and installation of a public art commission in the grounds of Goodmayes Hospital (in place spring 2014).

A key feature of the project is the involvement of mental health service-users and other communities in the process of developing and informing the design brief for the commission. This will be achieved through sessions working with film animators who have been commissioned to capture the ideas and wishes of those consulted.

Through evaluation of the project we also hope to advance understanding of participants' experiences of participatory arts for health and wellbeing, and the role of arts in challenging perceptions of mental health, and the impact on health and wellbeing.

Expressions of Interest are now being invited from suitably experienced practitioners to be considered for a selected shortlist for phase two of the commission. A small fee will be available for 3 practitioners to develop Tender submissions in response to the phase one engagement programme and brief. A project budget of £30,000 (including all costs and disbursements) has been identified for the design, construction and installation of the final piece.

If you are interested in being considered for inclusion on the shortlist please send a pdf document including your CV and up to 3 relevant projects that demonstrate your suitability for the public art commission to [email protected].

Deadline of 12 noon on Friday 19th April 2013.

Successful practitioners will be notified by Wednesday 1st May and the deadline for full Tender submissions is Wednesday 15th May 2013.
