M1 Gateway Public Art Project – small commissions

Deadline: May 7, 2014, 5:00 pm

On behalf of the M1 Gateway Project Board Sheffield City Council is inviting artists, curators and organisations to put forward proposals and apply for a series of linked commissions that explore the potential, set the tone and raise awareness in preparation for a major public art project in the Tinsley Locks / Blackburn Meadows area of Sheffield.

There is a broad scope to the work and applicants can apply to undertake the whole commission or elements within it.  The commissioners are open to a variety of different approaches and want to see activities that are engaging, exciting and full of energy

The total budget for the small commissions is £25,000

Artist would start work early in June and commissioners hope for some initial outcomes by the end of July.  The project(s), and engagement that is developed through it, may continue through 2014 and overlap with the main public art commission.
