Oxley Park Public Art Commission – Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Council and the Oxley Park Public Art Steering Group wish to appoint an artist/creative practice to develop and deliver a significant public realm commission within Oxley Park, which is situated on the western edge of Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes, designated in 1967 will be fifty years old next year, and whilst no longer a new town as such, it continues to initiate and support original concepts in the provision of housing, business and culture. Oxley Park, on the western edge of Milton Keynes is bordered by Kingsmead and Westcroft to the south, Shenley Wood to the east and Woodhill to the north with open countryside to the west and the village of Whaddon beyond.

The commissioners are looking for an artist/creative practice with an outstanding track record in delivering public realm commissions. The practitioner/s will be required to respond to the identified overarching aims and objectives outlined within this commission brief,  generate ideas, inspire minds and take a lead in bringing together communities, as well as private and public sector organisational partners. The practitioner/s will be closely supported by Milton Keynes Public Art Unit and the Oxley Park Public Art Steering Group.

Stage-one has a budget of £20,000 for research and development and proposal delivery. A budget for stage-two delivery will be allocated following the delivery of stage-one.
