Vibrant Aberdeen - A Cultural Strategy for Aberdeen (2010 – 2015)

Public Art Commission

2012 sees the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to the United Kingdom for the first time in over 60 years. To celebrate these momentous events, Aberdeen City Council is looking to commission an artist or organisation who can develop a temporary public art piece, performance or event which will harness the wave of excitement and energy created the games and which will highlight the positive role of culture and sport in the city.

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate:

  • A creative, high-quality contemporary practice.
  • A proposal that will meet the key elements of the commission.
  • The capacity to develop and deliver the project within the Aberdeen area.
  • A track record and innovative approach to working in public spaces.
  • A track record or interest in reflecting the social and cultural life of a particular place or region, working with communities or within regeneration.
