Date uploaded: August 29, 2014

Artes Mundi has announced the official exhibition and prize giving dates for 2014’s Artes Mundi 6 exhibition and prize. The exhibition will take place in Cardiff at National Museum Cardiff, Chapter Arts Centre and ffotogallery from the 24th of October 2014 to the 22nd of February 2015.

The winner of Artes Mundi 6 will be announced on the 22nd of January 2015 at an awards ceremony at National Museum Cardiff. The winning artist will receive a prize fund of £40,000, the UK’s largest monetary prize awarded to artists.

Artes Mundi, the organisation behind the prize and exhibition, is an international arts organisation committed to supporting ground breaking, international, contemporary, visual artists whose work engages with social reality and lived experience.  The organisation is publicly funded by the Arts Council of Wales and by Cardiff City Council and runs a sustained programme of outreach and learning projects throughout the year.

In 2014, the biennial event branches out beyond the National Museum Cardiff, to include Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff and ffotogallery, Penarth, with a programme of performance, music, site-specific installations, film, lectures and seminars based around the exhibition and prize, and running across the city from October to February.
