Belfast Receives Landmark Sculpture

Sculptor Wolfgang Buttress has been selected after a competition involving over 40 international artists to create a new landmark sculpture in Belfast.
rise is a spherical metal sculpture that stands over 120 feet high, and is due to be installed in Summer 2009.
rise will be visible from miles around Belfast and from the M1 that leads into the city. It will be located on what is curently a building site, as the area undergoes a multi-million pound road improvement investment programme.
Wolfgang describes the work as "a representation of a new sun rising to celebrate a new chapter in the history of Belfast".
