Winter Lights Festival at Canary Wharf

Date uploaded: January 13, 2016

Winter Lights presents 18 light installations in and around Canary Wharf. The sculptures, structures and installations will be on display from Monday the 11th to Friday the 22nd January 2016, from 4-9pm. Appealing to art lovers, lighting enthusiasts, families, the young and the old, there is something for everyone as soon as dusk falls, and all for free.

Light displays throughout Canary Wharf will shine bright with installations from some of the most innovative artists and designers around today as they present work using a great diversity of different forms of light technology.

Many pieces explore how we communicate in the modern world such as Julius Popp’s bit.fall that taps into live news feeds creating a digital typography waterfall and Bitone’s Totem that responds to the presence of mobile phone signals in the air around it. Other installations such as Jen Lewin’s The Pool encourages viewers to physically touch and engage with it and create visual and audio reactions.

Best seen after 4pm, all the installations and light effects will come alive throughout the evening until 9pm. For more details click here.
