As a result of substantial investment, the scope and excellence of the region’s cultural offer has been transformed over the past five years. More emphasis now needs to be placed on connecting these outstanding cultural assets with other parts of the visitor economy to achieve their full potential.

This one-day seminar will show how the tourism economy and the cultural sector can work together to grow business in York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding by building practical partnerships.

Speakers include:

  • Clare Morrow, Chair, Welcome to Yorkshire
  • Cluny Macpherson, Regional Director, Arts Council England Yorkshire
  • Pete Massey, Senior Manager Regional Planning, Arts Council England Yorkshire
  • Tom Freshwater, Contemporary Arts Programme Manager, the National Trust
  • Stephen Feber, Social Enterprise Developer

Additional Case Studies will feature regional, national and international examples of innovative projects and collaborations drawn from the arts, festivals and from related sectors.

Format for the Day: a mixture of short presentations and facilitated discussion. Come prepared to participate, make new contacts and identify practical ways of working collaboratively to improve your marketing and develop your offer.

Facilitation: Stephen Feber
Who should attend: artists, arts managers, curators, gallery staff, accommodation providers, food and catering providers, festival promoters, economic and arts development officers, heritage venue and national park representatives, tourism and marketing officers and anyone else with an interest in cultural tourism.
