Curating public art with Art and Sacred Places

Art and Sacred Places will be delivering a 2-day course at City Lit in London exploring the history of curation in sacred places and looking at some contemporary curating ideas. Attendees will learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of commissioning and curating public art, and will be taught by members of the team at Art and Sacred Places.

By the end of this course you will...

  • Have learned about the history of curation within the church and some contemporary curating ideas.
  • Have an overview of the skills and practicalities required for commissioning public art for sacred places
  • Be familiar with and understand a basic artist's brief
  • Begin to understand how to budget and fund raise.
  • Be equipped to consider the sensitivities of spaces and their communities.

All levels are welcome. The course may be of particular value to budding curators and members of the clergy interested in understanding some of the practicalities of introducing contemporary art into the church.
