Figure Ground: Introduction

Thursday 30th July, 6.30-8pm, Fabrica, Brighton

Figure Ground is Katy Beinart, Jo Thomas, Jon Adams. We are a group of artists who came together as former recipients of Art Plus awards from Arts Council England.

Figure Ground is organising a series of events for artists working in the public realm, to provide opportunities to network and collaborate, in locations around the South East. It is about artists working in public getting together and debating key issues relating to their practice, in a format that is open, participatory and creative.

We will use outside spaces as starting points for conversations, creating physical interventions as means for debate to emerge, so the events themselves are artistic processes. We want to question the boundaries of practice in outside space, exploring where practice begins and ends.

The events will take place around the South East region: Bracknell, Chatham, Brighton and Milton Keynes this Autumn.
This initial event at Fabrica will act as an introduction to the project and provides an opportunity for artists based in Brighton and the surrounding area to get involved.

This project is being produced thanks to help from the artists the group met through the NAN bursary (AN Magazine); SEEDA, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Fabrica, AN Magazine, Artworks MK, ARC and Artpoint.
Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
