Uriel Orlow: Aide-Memorie (7.0) at Wysing Arts Centre
Saturday 22nd October, 2-5pm
Uriel Orlow will present his performance lecture Aide-Memorie (7.0); a piece which presents salvaged material of a future film and explores the territory between travelogue, slide-show, obscure history lesson and immersive sound-scape. Orlow takes specific locations and events as starting points and combines archival research with evocative visuals and sound to creates installations and performance.
The Department of Overlooked Histories is the third of three departments within Wysing’s programme for 2011: The Institute of Beyond. Overlooked Histories will be explored by artists Ruth Beale, Karin Kihlberg & Reuben Henry, Emma Smith and An Endless Supply who will be in residence at Wysing for six weeks from 19th September to 4th November. Uriel’s performance lecture is one of a number of public events which Wysing will host during the artists’ residency period, to provide a platform for different perspectives and ideas.
