Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March 2014

A two-day Conference examining the contemporary uses of light in urban regeneration and heritage contexts
Chester, United Kingdom
Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March 2014
Cheshire West & Chester Council

Conference Day One will present inspirational examples of practical ways in which light has been utilised as a major resource in regeneration schemes internationally. The day will conclude with a practical workshop for delegates, conducted out in the City, exploring solutions to three multiple-use heritage sites in the centre of Chester: the Rows, the city’s unique double tiered covered shopping walkways, the Historic City walls and Town Hall Square.

Conference Day Two the morning will present detailed and revealing showcases of two civic regeneration schemes in which light has been ‘more useful and cheaper than bollards’. In the afternoon, a practical workshop for delegates will respond to an actual regeneration brief in which light has been at the centre of the solution, concluding with comparisons between the workshop solutions and the actual solution.
