DERBY PUBLIC ART STRATEGY

Responsibility for public art development within Derby City Council rests with the Built Environment Team, part of Development and Cultural Services.

The City Council supported by Arts Council England, East Midlands, commissioned the consultancy Public Arts to produce a Public Art Strategy for the City. Following the publication of the Derby Public Art Strategy in May 2003, a Public Art Implementation Plan for April 2004 onwards was published.

Several other documents have also been published by the Built Environment Team including 'Public Art - A guide for developers' and 'What's This, Then?', a guide to interpreting public art.

All publications are available online in a Public Art section of the Derby City Council website at www.derby.gov.uk/living/publicart.htm which also features a Derby Public Artwork of the Month including background information and images.
