Artist's Commission, South Yorkshire Housing Association

Deadline: January 29, 2014

South Yorkshire Housing Association (SYHA) are looking for an artist to work with residents and staff to create a useable, useful and beautiful garden at Browning Court in Rotherham.

Browning Court has ten furnished, single-person flats and helps adults with long term mental health needs. We want those involved in the project to have the opportunity to grow with us by having a great experience and developing skills and interests; we want future residents to grow with us through their experience of and contribution to the garden; we want the garden and building to grow with us as to become a beautiful place we are all proud of; and we want the creative approach to this project to grow with us as we seek to become an increasingly creative organisation.

The project is part of Moments of Joy which is a conscious effort by SYHA to find, recognise and promote those special and important parts of our lives and to encourage art and cultural activity.

The total budget for the project is £12,000. The deadline for the submission of expressions of interest is 29 January 2014. The deadline for completion of the work is September 2014.

The process of selecting the artist is being managed for SYHA by Andrew Skelton, Public Art Officer, Sheffield City Council. For a copy of the brief please email Andrew: [email protected]
