People United - Artists' Commissions 2014
Deadline: February 10, 2014, 5:00 pm
People United, in association with Manchester Museum and Lunsford Primary School, Kent are looking for two artists to deliver exciting and ambitious work exploring the themes of wonder and role models.
Supported by the Arts Council, Manchester Museum, Lunsford Primary School and Artswork, People United have launched a second year of artists' commissions to continue to explore the role the arts can play in developing a more caring society.
Based in Manchester and Maidstone, the two commissions will focus on the themes of 'wonder' and 'role models'. These will be informed by a research paper, Arts and Kindness, that explores how the arts might sow the seeds for kindness to grow, and develop learning about the potential of the arts to inspire positive social change. The commissioners are looking for artists who want to broaden and develop themselves as artists, and who enjoy learning from other disciplines in order to inform and influence their practice.
This commission offers the artists appointed the flexibility to develop their own ideas within a wider framework, whilst being supported and connected with wider conversations across disciplines.
The deadline for applications is Monday 10 February at 5pm. For further details of the programme and how to apply see http://www.peopleunited.org.uk/artistscommissions2014.php
