WICED (Women's International Centre for Women's Economic Development) Commission
Deadline: July 24, 2009, 5:00 pm
Budget in the region of £20,000 (dependent on funding)
WICED, the Women's International Centre for Economic Development, is seeking applications from artists/makers to design and fabricate a large-scale art commission that will be located in or around its purpose-built centre, due to reach completion in Liverpool city centre late next year.
The selected artist will respond to the themes of women and entrepreneurship to develop a permanent installation that will form a focal point in or around the building and enhance people's experience of it.
This is an opportunity to be part of the process from the earliest planning stage, and the final installation will from an integral part of the design of this bespoke building. The commission is open to individual artists or those working collaboratively, and is open to all art forms and media.
Please note that, as funding for this aspect of the project is yet to be finalised, shortlisted artists will not be requested to produce detailed drawings or models at this stage, and selection will be based on the strength of their initial idea and response to the themes above.
