Under The Streets – Graffiti Artists 2 Hire & R.U.A (Revive Urban Arts)
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October, R.U.A (Revive Urban Arts) and Graffiti Artists 2 Hire will be transforming the Kirkgate underpasses in Wakefield city centre into a thriving bright friendly zone with a unique urban transformation twist.
R.U.A are based in Wakefield but draw upon a pool of world-class artists from across the UK and Europe. For this project they have hand picked a group of twelve artists to transform the location: applying a colourful and unique art form to this development area - each with individual flair showcasing their unique skills in graffiti art.
The project is backed and funded by Wakefield Council and commissioned by Beam.
R.U.A., who have recently secured a new premises in Wakefield, is headed up by Martin Hayhurst: “All our artists are professional graffiti writers with a combined experience of over 100 years. We are privileged and very excited to be part of this project and hope that it’s the start of great things to come with R.U.A & Beam.”
All are welcome to spectate at this special weekend of live graffiti! The transformation will take place between 10am – 4pm on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October.
This project is part of Amazing Streets and Spaces – a season of artistic interventions in Wakefield city centre, managed by Beam and supported by Arts Council England, Wakefield Council and many others.
