Juneau Projects' Cardboard Wars

As part of Juneau Projects‘ new commission for Art Across The City 2013, everyone was invited to take part in Cardboard Wars, a free cardboard costume tournament and picnic which took place in Singleton Park, Swansea on the 21st September 2013.

Entrants had to report to LOCWS International's military tent in Singleton Park at 1200 hours sharp (midday), which was located beneath Juneau Projects’ bird sculptures high up in the trees. They were invited to build their own cardboard costume/armour, make a weapon of their choice, and then test their strength in a non-contact conkers-style tournament, with prizes for the winners!

Despite some drizzly rain, over forty people came to the army tent and twenty four warriors took part in the tournament, which celebrated one winner as well as five runner-up prizes, beautiful bird ornament and necklaces made by the artists.
