5 performance artists, Halton Borough Council
Deadline: February 3, 2012
Performance artists (Music, theatre, dance, Literature, circus) required for public art commission in Merseyside
Halton Borough Council is seeking up to 5 performance artists to work alongside Halton's Arts Development Team to deliver the Going Underground Project.
Castlefields is a housing estate in Runcorn that has undergone significant regeneration over the last 5 years. We are seeking to commission artists to work with local community groups and a visual artist to create 5 short performances in 5 subways in Castlefields.
Each subway will be allocated an artistic team comprising of:
- lead visual artist
- lead performance artist
- shadowing intern artist.
The role of the performing artists will be to work with a group of local residents to create a performance scheduled for autumn 2011. This process will compliment the work of the visual artists in the creation of the subways permanent mural. The performance can be any, or any combination of disciplines (music, dance, theatre, poetry circus etc). The lead performance artist will also contribute to the CPD opportunities provided to the assistant intern artist. Technical support for the performance will be provided by Halton's Arts Development Team.
Each subway is a separate commission. You may apply for one, all or as many of the 5 commissions described in Appendix C as you like.
The budget for Performance Artists per subway is £1000. This fee is for 10 hours contact time with participants, delivery of a 5 - 10 minute long performance in the subway and preparation time outside sessions.
