Animal Architecture commission, Weymouth, Dorset
Synergy Housing are developing a number of small sites (formerly garages) for a total of 20 housing units, on the Littlemoor residential estate area of Weymouth in Dorset.
Synergy are looking to commission an artist or designer to design and build a piece of ‘animal architecture’ (such as bird or bat boxes, bee housing) to be integrated into, and replicated throughout the seven development sites in Littlemoor.
The aim of the project is to provide ecological mitigation for the housing development by providing habitats for wild animals within the development, and therefore encouraging biodiversity in the area.
There is a total project budget of £12,000 exc VAT, including a small budget for a community engagement event, all artist fees and expenses and an £8,000 budget for the detailed design, fabrication and installation of the works.
