Playful Incident – Call for Expressions of Interest.

A major new commission for the Parkland of Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire.

Commission fee: £60,000

The second National Trust curated commission in the East Midlands, part of a programme of contemporary art in England and Wales in partnership with Arts Council England, Trust New Art.

DEADLINE: 15th January 2012

National Trust is seeking expressions of interest for a major contemporary art commission for Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire, which will result in an outdoor, temporary site specific work or art, design or architecture in August 2012. The intention is for an artist, architect or designer with a strong track record, to realise a new way of experiencing this incredible site for a period of four months, August to November 2012.
Kedleston Hall is a neo-classical mansion with Adam interiors, landscape gardens and park. Playful Incident refers to both the word used by Adam to describe interventions in the landscape, and the playful approach we are seeking.
Who: all visual, inter-disciplinary artists, designers, architects, landscape designers
What/when: temporary artwork, July - November 2012

How to apply: please submit by post CD with 10 images of your work, a CV and short statement (max 500 words) describing your practice and your initial ideas, (written or audio). Three artists/makers will be short listed, each receiving a fee of £400 to work up a full proposal.
Deadline for expressions of interest: 15 January 2012 – no late applications will be accepted.
