Artist Opportunity - Eastern Quarter, Llanelli Town Centre-Digital Screen/Wall Public Art Commission

Deadline: July 17, 2013, 2:00 pm

Llanelli Digital Screen/Wall Public Art Commission
Canol Tref Llanelli - Wal/Sgrin Ddigidol
Deadline Date:
17th July at 2pm

The commission for a digital wall/screen is part of the ADREF project which is funded between Carmarthenshire County Council and the European Regional Development Fund. The project aims to connect and strengthen links between the exciting new developments within Llanelli town centre and the sustainable, wider regeneration of Llanelli and its surrounding communities. ADREF aims to create an environment to encourage inward investment, economic growth and the provision of quality jobs in the local economy.

Carmarthenshire County Council aim to produce and implement a Public Art programme for Llanelli Town Centre Regeneration, with the ambition of commissioning a series of innovative and high quality art in the public realm with national and international significance.

This commission is a rare opportunity for new media artists, designers and filmmakers to showcase their work in a permanent public realm location adjacent to a prestigious arts environment. The commission as seen in a wider context should create an exceptional example for future public art works incorporating permanent digital media in the public realm.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative commission for the procurement of a permanent digital screen/digital wall and for the commissioned artist(s) to produce site-specific contents for the screen/wall. The contents displayed may take the form of moving images, photography, short films and digital media. The commission shall be for five months and the screen/wall must be installed by Mid January 2014 within a maximum budget of £40,000.

Please note: Artists living outside of Wales can also apply.
