Artist wanted to create items for a dinosaur play trail

Deadline: September 14, 2009

Mantle Arts are running a project in association with Leicestershire County Council to create three play features on the banks of King Lear's Lake at Watermead Country Park near Syston, just north of Leicester. The features will be part of a more extensive play-trail around the lake, which will have a dinosaur theme, reflecting the prehistory of the area. The artist will work with local schools and youth groups to allow young people some input into the design of the features. The features should as far as possible use natural materials and should harmonise with the environment in which they are sited.

The project has been funded by Playbuilder - a government scheme created to change the way in which children's play spaces are created. A budget of approximately £30,000 is available to cover all aspects of the project including design, workshops, construction and installation.

Artists having contact with young people or with vulnerable adults will be expected to have a current enhanced CRB check.
