Cadw Artist Commission for Strata Florida Abbey
Deadline: March 16, 2012
Strata Florida Abbey Artist Commission
Background
Cadw is the Welsh government’s historic environment service working for an accessible and well-protected environment for Wales. Strata Florida Abbey in mid Wales is one of the many monuments cared for by Cadw. In 2011 Cadw commissioned poet Gwyneth Lewis to produce poems in Welsh and English for the reopening of Strata Florida Abbey and in recognition of the abbey’s great literary and cultural legacy.
The Commission
Cadw would now like to commission an artist to produce a work of art to display the poems at the site permanently. We are open to design proposals in a range of materials suitable for the outdoor environment.
The budget is £15,000 to include artist’s fees and expenses, materials, fabrication costs, installation, transportation and insurance.
If you are interested in applying for this commission please contact Dave Jones, Interpretation Officer for a copy of the full brief.
Deadline for expressions of interest is 16th March 2012
