Deadline: March 10, 2014, 9:00 am

Taylor Wimpey, Martin Grant Homes have appointed HAPPEN to manage and implement an ambitious Public Art programme at the King’s Reach development, Biggleswade. The programme will deliver up to four principal artworks, with linked multiple satellite pieces by up to three individual artists; integrated as far as possible with the overall design of the public realm.

There are three commissions:

  • Commission#1 - ‘Music of the Spheres’ - £100,000 (ex.VAT)
  • Commission#2 - ‘Growing communities’ - £40,000 (ex. VAT)
  • Commission#3 - ‘Buried treasure’ - £80,000 (ex. VAT)

Artists can pitch for any one, or all, of the commissions.

Applicants can be individuals or groups.

The Artist Commission Briefs should be read in conjunction with the Public Art Commissioning Framework for Kings Reach, which outlines the wider Public Art programme for this development, including guiding principles; suitable sites and opportunities; other proposed commissions; and the practicalities of delivery.

The appointed artist/s must have a proven track record in the successful delivery of public art projects.  Shortlisted artists will be expected to attend an interview and asked to give a presentation on how the commission/s would be approached. Each shortlisted artist will be paid a fixed fee of £150 for attending the interview (inclusive of all travel costs and other expenses).
