Chichester District Council commission

Deadline: December 9, 2008, 5:00 pm

An opportunity has arisen for the commissioning of a number of public artworks and design led features as part of the redevelopment of Chichester Canal Basin directed by Chichester District Council. The project is due for completion in June 2009.

We are seeking expressions of interest from visual artists and designer, craft led makers to create a shortlist. If interested please submit:

  • Up to 4 JPEGS of your work on disc or by email and/or catalogue of works including the cost of these works / CV / artists statement

Send to: Canal Basin Project, O.Stevens, 2, Old Bakery Gdns, Chichester, PO19 8AJ or email material to: [email protected]

We are particularly interested in hearing from artists with experience of working within the public realm, and perhaps collaborative community based projects, though early career artists looking to extend their practice are also encouraged to apply. A temporary art project working in collaboration with a local school or youth group will also be commissioned which will not exclude artists working in any medium including 2-d media, film etc. If you wish to apply for this special project, please mark your application – TEMPORARY.

Please note that submitted material will not be returned. For further info or clarification on any matter, please contact Olivia Stevens on 07775978925 or [email protected]

Shortlisted artists will be contacted by 20th December. A design fee will be paid to each shortlisted artist.

Budget: Within the region of UKP7,000 per commission including materials.

This project is funded by Chichester District Council in partnership with Terra Firma LTD / Olivia Stevens / West Sussex County Council
