Commission for The “Pride in Honeywood” Initiative, Gelding

Deadline: April 9, 2009

HEAT and Gedling Borough Council are working together to develop the area surrounding The Brickyard Community Centre.  Potential projects for the area include:

  • the redevelopment of a grassy space outside of the centre to include a motif or logo for the Estate

  • the design of a mural to improve the boarded up frontage of a block of empty local shop.

To give the local community an opportunity to have maximum involvement in this project a visioning event will be held at The Brickyard Community Centre on Saturday 16th May 2009 from 1-4pm.

We are looking for two creative practitioners to lead activities during this event to inspire the community in producing innovative and creative designs for these projects. Key elements such as form, function, feasibility, sustainability, visual and cultural impact, community safety and community engagement will need to be considered.

This event will provide an excellent opportunity for consultation with the Honeywood Gardens community and practitioners will need to have experience of working with a range of community groups, particularly with young people, and have up to date CRB checks.

Please email an expression of interest (no more than one A4 side) including proposed fees for the session by Thursday April 9th, 2009.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity please contact Sarah Cook, Arts Strategy and Development Officer, Gedling Borough Council, 0115 9013605, [email protected]
