Connect Project, South Bristol Community Hospital, Ginkgo Project

Deadline: November 3, 2011

Connect Project, South Bristol Community Hospital

The Connect Project concerns South Bristol Community Hospital, one of a number of new developments at Hengrove Park, a 76 hectare former airfield. The new hospital is part of phase 1, which also includes the completed South Bristol Skills Academy. The Connect project is part of a wider programme of art commissions across Hengrove Park.

An artist is sought to work primarily with residents within the catchment area of the new hospital, to develop a series of original wall-based work for display in the new hospital building. The main aim is to build connections between the new hospital and its surroundings. The project artist will engage with people living close to the hospital, and reflect areas of interest to the residents in a series of artworks to be wall-mounted inside the hospital.

The resulting work might be photography, printmaking, drawing or painting, and may include work in several different mediums. However, it should be clear that the artworks are all part of the same series. The choice of medium is open to the artists’ influence and should come out of the time spent by the artist during their initial research and engagement period.

The total available budget is £14,500 exc VAT. Artworks should be installed by the end of April 2012.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 3rd November 2011. Please submit your application by email to: [email protected]
