Public Art Strategy for Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre

Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre has a unique heritage and history; as the industrial capital of Wales it once drove the Welsh economy and helped forge the national identity of Wales. Suffering from decline with the loss of key industries, an extensive regeneration programme has been undertaken by the local authority with the aim of the rejuvenating the town centre.  The integration of public art within the current and future programme is seen as a crucial element of the regeneration of the town.

The Physical Regeneration Team of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council seeks expressions of interest from teams of artists/arts professionals/curators/organizations wishing to undertake the development of a public arts strategy for Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre. This commission is a significant opportunity for the right team to make a major contribution to the development of the built environment of Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre.

Expressions of interest are invited from teams by 28th February 2014. The fee for the Public Art Strategy is £22,000.

The brief and supporting documents are available on request from [email protected]. All enquires should be sent by email, no enquiries by telephone.  Interviews will take place on 13th March at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. Candidates will be informed by 7th March if they are shortlisted for interview.
