Lead Artist Penarth Heights Public Art Programme
Crest Nicholson (South West) Ltd, in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, are seeking to appoint a lead artist for Penarth Heights a flagship development in Penarth, South Wales.
Penarth Heights is a significant new housing development on the site of the former Billy Banks, overlooking Cardiff Bay. The development is adjacent to Penarth Marina and Penarth town centre, with views to the South Wales Valleys and the Brecon Beacons.
The aim of the public art programme is to develop the public spaces to reflect the history of the site, while looking forward to a new era. Innovation and imagination will be key traits of the appointed lead artist, as will the ability to consult and engage with the communities, businesses and arts organisations in Penarth, to ensure that everyone who wants to can be involved in this exciting project. The appointment will be for an initial period of 18 months, potentially extendable for up to three years, on a part-time, freelance basis, subject to a probationary period of three months.
The lead artist will work with Penarth Heights public arts project consultant, Emma Geliot, the project manager and site manager for Crest Nicholson and Tracey Harding arts development officer for the Vale of Glamorgan Council, to develop a multi-thematic approach to the public realm elements of the development and to advise on the appointment of other artists for residencies, community projects and commissions
