Locws International 2nd Annual Public Art Open Submission 2014

Locws International has announced its 2nd annual Public Art Open Submission competition for UK and international artists interested in working in the public realm. Artists are invited to submit their work for consideration for a temporary public artwork to be realised in the city of Swansea, Wales, UK, as part of Locws International’s Art Across The City programme in 2015, their 15th anniversary year.

The two selected artists will receive a £1,000 fee and a budget up to £2,500 to cover design, production, materials and installation, plus agreed expenses.

Ten artists from the Open Submission process will be shortlisted with two being selected by the judging panel to develop and deliver their proposal. All shortlisted artists will be considered for future Locws International events and commissions.

  1. Up to 4 jpeg (max 1MB each) images of previous work + URL links to website
  2. Film, video and sound works to be supplied as URL links
  3. A CV and statement of up to 500 words about your work including any initial ideas you may have where relevant
  4. Submission fee of £15.00 per submission payable via PayPal – use link below

Full proposals are not required at this stage. Selected artists will work closely with Locws on developing their proposals, site, public participation, education and outreach programme, etc. Please note, experience of working in the public realm is not essential, but please reference this in your statement, and why you feel your work may be suitable.

The 10 shortlisted applicants will be notified in early December. The successful applicants will be informed by December 12th. The commission will be completed in April 2015, as part of Locws International’s Art Across The City programme.
