Oatlands Commission

Deadline: June 13, 2016, 1:00 pm

Avant Homes, in partnership with Glasgow City Council, is seeking to commission an artist / creative practitioner for the delivery of an artwork, the third in a series of four, in Oatlands.  An ongoing programme of community-hosted activity is an integral element of the commission to inform the development process and final outcome.

The main aim of the project is to create a high quality neighbourhood, containing around 1,400 new houses and flats.  The new housing will be closely integrated with the mature, upgraded landscape of Richmond Park and the scheme involves:

  • a major road diversion (completed in 2010)
  • £2 million worth of park improvements and the reopening of the walkway along the south bank of the River Clyde (latter now complete)
  • ground remediation and preparation
  • provision or relocation of a range of local community and commercial facilities, including: a family pub/restaurant, local shops, a community centre, allotment gardens and improvements to Hampden School (formerly Richmond Park School).
