Parkside Federation Academies S106 Public Art Commission

Deadline: January 27, 2012

Parkside Federation Academies S106 Public Art Commission

The City of Cambridge Education Foundation is a Trust responsible for the land and buildings that comprise Parkside Federation Academies. Coleridge Community College, one of the schools in the Federation, has seen a significant development in the last 18 months. The project budget includes a sum of money for the commissioning, production and display of a piece of public art.

The objective of the commission will be to produce a permanent piece of decorative art work that will form a feature in the entrance foyer of the Sixth Form building. The building is double height under a sloping roof. The artwork must create a sense of arrival to the auditorium and also make best use the natural light to provide an exciting and stimulating impression.

The budget for the project is £25,000 including VAT (if applicable). Please note that no fee is payable at the 'expression of interest' stage. Shortlisted artists (maximum of 5) will receive a design fee (incl. expenses) of £500, deductable from the overall project sum.

Closing date for submissions: 27th January 2012

If you would like to be considered and to receive more details of the commissioning process, please provide:

  • a written document (word format) of a maximum of 500 words, outlining the artists approach to the brief;
  • a copy of the artist's current curriculum vitae, highlighting relevant qualifications and experience for a commission of this nature, particularly information about any recent exhibitions and/or commissions;
  • visuals of at least 6 pieces of appropriate recent work must be provided in Jpeg/JPG format (All visuals must be of good quality, high resolution and be sharply focused);
  • a 200 word artist statement that gives an explanation of their practice and work to support the visuals;
  • the contact details of two referees for work completed within the last 5 years.

Expressions should be emailed to: [email protected], titled ‘Coleridge s106 application’.
