Proposed Public Work of Art at ‘Stanmore Place’ Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, Harrow

Harrow Heritage Trust in Partnership with Berkeley Homes and London Borough of Harrow invites artists to submit an expression of interest to design, make and install a public work of art for ‘Stanmore Place’, Stanmore, Harrow. At this site of old government offices, a new development of 790 homes is under way. Many homes have already been completed and occupied. The developers have also built a ‘Lake’ as part of a flood alleviation scheme. These works include a landscaped area with fountains in the lake. The artwork would be installed in full view within the Public Realm at the frontage of the development to Honeypot Lane, which is a major throughway.

The total budget for the scheme is £45,000. The resulting artwork therefore should be iconic, grand, harmonious and attractive, whilst capturing the aspirations of the residents of Stanmore Place and local community at large.

The art work will have to be robust and of low maintenance and should be installed ready for an unveiling event by the spring of 2014.

The Trust will short list up to six artists who will prepare site specific conceptual ideas  and present them to a judging panel who will make the final decision which will be followed by commissioning the artist by Harrow Heritage Trust (£500 fee payable).

The deadline for submitting an expression of interest together with a CV and images of past works is 7th March 2013 by email to [email protected].
