Public Art Commission for an emerging artist, Barons Quay, Northwich

Deadline: June 27, 2014, 9:00 am

Cheshire West and Chester (CW&C) wish to commission an emerging artist to design an installation to be sited on the wall of an entrance area containing a travelator leading to the main public square in the new development of Barons Quay and to the entrance to the anchor food store.

Barons Quay is a major regeneration scheme that integrates a thriving retail and leisure quarter into the historic market town.  This commission will be sited at a significant gateway into Barons Quay for incoming visitors wishing to visit the area.

This public art commission has been identified within the strategic programme devised by the Lead Artist for the town within the overarching theme relating to the former rock salt mines, which are under the town.

There will be an initial design fee of £1,000 available for shortlisted artists.

Budget for the commission: £50,000 to include artist fees, expenses, design implementation costs and fabrication costs

This commission is a significant opportunity for an emerging artist to receive mentoring support from the Lead Artist for Northwich throughout the commissioning process.
