Public Art Commission for the New Science Centre, Cambridge

Deadline: July 14, 2015, 4:00 pm

Place Services on behalf of Anglia Ruskin University seeks expressions of interest from artists with experience of working in the public realm whose practice explored the cross-over between the Arts, Sciences and Architecture. The project aims to be a focus of celebration for Anglia Ruskin University’s new Science Centre due for completion in September 2017.

The public art commission for the new Science Centre for Anglia Ruskin University is an opportunity to produce a significant, site-specific public artwork. The appointed artist will need to account for the broad range of people engaging with the University - students, staff and members of the public. Consideration is to be given to the evolving relationship and experiences with the resulting artwork, whilst relating to and providing creative interpretation about the site and its context.

The artist will be responsible for developing an innovative community engagement programme to ensure local opinions are reflected within the final artwork. It is envisaged that  a  community engagement programme, developed with the selected artist, will form part of the Cambridge Science Festival in March 2016.

Artists interested in being considered for the commission are invited to send up to 10 images for recent work, a current CV and brief expression of interest (one side of A4) to Clare Cleary, Associate Consultant Public Art to the address below by the 14th July. Shortlisting of artists will take place the following week and all shortlisted artists will be contacted by the 28th of July 2015.

There is a budget of £159,000 for the commission Inc. VAT.

Interviews will be held on the 4th August 2015.

All images should be sent either on CD with supporting information to the address below or via email as a single file no larger than 10MB to [email protected]
