Kirklees Council seeks an experienced artist to develop public arts design proposals for the entrance of Dewsbury Country Park. The park is a former landfill site which, with Forestry Commission funding, is being transformed into the largest new woodland in Yorkshire. This is a high profile environmental development project which is central to the regeneration of the area.
The aims of the project are to:
- Develop high quality, feasible design proposals for the entrance of Dewsbury Country Park;
- Sustain the good relationships already built with local people;
- Extend public awareness of and involvement in the Country Park development.
To meet these aims the artist will:
- Creatively engage local people in the development of design ideas;
- Work closely with the Council’s Landscape Architect to develop design proposals based on research into feasibility and costs;
- Work with the Landscape Architect to produce high quality visuals of the design ideas;
- Widely share the design proposals and information about next steps with local communities.
