Deadline: October 15, 2012
Public Art Commission, The Witham Hall Ltd
The Witham Hall is a Grade II listed building operated by a charitable trust and limited company providing facilities for community activities, events, exhibitions and performances in the centre of Barnard Castle in County Durham.
A major redevelopment project will see the original Witham buildings restored, and a new link building constructed between the Testimonial building and the performance hall.
The Witham Hall wishes to commission an artist to develop and deliver a new permanent public art work to mark the redevelopment of The Witham and help to celebrate this new chapter in Barnard Castle’s history. The appointed artist will need to involve children from a local primary school in some aspects of the design, development or production of the work.
The budget for the final commission is £4,500, inclusive of all fees, expenses, workshop costs, materials, production costs, transport and installation, and VAT where appropriate. The funding is available from the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. Artists are invited to tender a proposal for the design and production of one or several works of art within the above budget.
