Public Art Commission: Blackrock, Co. Louth
Artists are invited to make a submission to a two stage process to create a permanent outdoor artwork in the village of Blackrock, Co. Louth. Funding has been provided by the Department of Environment Community & Local Government. This Louth Local Authorities commission is run in association with Blackrock Tidy Towns Committee.
Artwork Location: The promenade in Blackrock village. Stage 2 artists will be asked to identify suitable sites on the promenade.
Budget: E40,000
This is a two stage process.
Stage 1 – Artists are invited to submit CVs and up to 12 images in jpeg or pdf formats only.
Stage 2 – Up to 3 artists will be invited to make a detailed submission. A fee of E500 will be paid to these artists for making a valid submission.
Closing Date For Receipt of Stage 1 Applications: 4pm, Tuesday 10 January 2012.
We do not accept emailed submissions.
The selection panel will shortlist up to 3 artists, who will be asked to develop a more detailed proposal. Shortlisted artists will be given 6 weeks to develop their proposal and will be paid a fee of E500. Stage 2 artists will have 6 weeks to prepare a detailed submission. Stage 2 artists will be asked to submit detailed proposals for a permanent artwork that reflects the heritage, environment and or the social/cultural history of the village.
Artist Contract: Early March 2012.
Commission Completion: March 2013.
