The Stove Network; Public Communicator and Herald

Deadline: June 14, 2014

The Stove Network based in Dumfries are offering a residency commission to research, understand and interpret the dozen or so projects in public spaces that constitute their creative programme from June 2014 to June 2015. The commissioners are looking for a interpreter, a recorder, a herald, a bridger, but most importantly a communicator; to share their projects with the people of Dumfries in ways that are engaging, informative and creative.

Applicants should have significant experience in at least one of the following: event production, socially engaged art in public or the written word. They will also need to demonstrate experience and the ability to interpret and communicate.

The nature of the commission requires considerable time on location in Dumfries, and the successful artist will be required to attend specific project dates. Please be aware of this if intending to travel from a significant distance.

Budget Detail
The communicator/artist fee includes a production budget. There is scope for the Herald commission to coordinate work with other strands of TheStove@TheStove to amplify the reach and ambition of the work – but this will be by negotiation with other project partners.

Fee
Public Communicator and Herald fee is £6500. This is inclusive of production and travel costs. It is also inclusive of VAT.

Timescale
July 2014 – June 2015. The artist will be required to spend a considerable time on location in Dumfries, and will be required to attend specific project dates.
