Woodside Frontages Public Art Commission
Deadline: November 1, 2012
Woodside Frontages Public Art Commission, London Borough of Waltham Forest
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking proposals from established artists and artist led organisations with a proven track record of producing innovative works for the public realm.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an artist to create a major public artwork within the boundary fencing of Woodside Primary School, Wood Street, Walthamstow, East London. The commission seeks to enhance the grain, views and social value of the street, making a mindful transition from the street to the schoolgrounds.
The appointed artist will collaborate with East architects, who are leading on WOOD STREET INSIDE OUT - a programme of public projects seeking to enhance the character of Wood Street. This programme is restoring heritage buildings, providing new planting, signage, street furniture and shop frontages, and commissioning a number of art projects connecting and animating diverse spaces and communities. The programme is supported by the Mayor's Outer London Fund, which is helping increase the vibrancy and growth of high street places across London.
The total value of the commission is £75,000 + VAT. This is a finite sum to cover fees and all project costs.
Deadline for submission: Thursday 1st November 2012. The project will be developed and completed during an 11 month period between November 2012 and September 2013.
