Designs unveiled for the Memorial to the Lost Trawlermen of Hull
Date uploaded: July 17, 2013
The competing designs for The Memorial to the Lost Trawlermen of Hull are on public display in Hull’s Maritime Museum from 17th-23rd July. They have been produced by the three design teams selected to take part in the design competition organised by STAND, the St Andrews Dock Heritage Park Action Group, with support from Hull City Council.
The designs produced in response to STAND’S vision for the memorial are for a site beside the water’s edge at St Andrew’s Quay, formerly St Andrew’s Dock. It is intended that the memorial will be a special place for people to mourn, to remember and to honour a very special aspect of the community’s history.
The competitors are:
- Colour: urban design limited
- Dress for the Weather, FACTORY Architecture with artist Jacqueline Donachie
- Plincke Landscape Limited
Charles Pinder, Chairman of STAND, said: 'We are delighted with the quality of the submitted designs. The competitors have demonstrated considerable skill and commitment to developing their ideas in response to our aspirations for the memorial. We are now sharing their ideas with the public and their views will be considered by the Jury Panel when it meets to review the designs.'
It is planned to announce the winning design on Monday 29 July.
