Draft National Planning Policy Framework: Consultation

Date uploaded: August 8, 2011

The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) has now published the draft National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) for consultation. CLG’s overall aim for the NPPF is to provide a shorter, more decentralised and less bureaucratic approach to the articulation and implementation of the current suite of national Planning Policy Statements, Planning Policy Guidance notes and Circulars.

In February 2011, ixia prepared a note in response to the CLG’s invitation to organisations and individuals to offer suggestions on the priorities and policies which should be included within the NPPF. ixia’s response requests that the NPPF makes reference to public art, either independently or as part of a definition of culture, cultural infrastructure and cultural activities. Click here to download ixia’s response document. ixia will submit this request again during the current consultation.

The consultation will close on 17th October 2011. If you would like to respond to the consultation, please use the following link: http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/planningandbuilding/draftframeworkconsultation

In September CLG are holding four planning reform events in London on Wednesday 7 September 2011 (NB. The London event is now oversubscribed); Leeds on Thursday 8 September 2011; Birmingham on Tuesday 13 September 2011; and Bristol on Thursday 15 September 2011. These events will cover the National Planning Policy Framework along with other key elements of our planning reforms, such as Neighbourhood Planning.
