Wide Open Space
Date uploaded: October 21, 2008
Wide Open Space is a new programme of commissions that is being developed by the Dorset Design and Heritage Forum to explore how artists can contribute to the rural public realm. The project has been designed in the context of significant social issues affecting the countryside such as the development of sustainable/affordable housing, the need for improved public transport links and imbalanced demographics.
Four commissions will take place in 2008/9. These will be documented and hopefully incorporated as case studies into guidance on commissioning for rural environments. The project is being managed by WIllis Newson and supported by Arts Council England and Public Art South West.
