Chris Tipping ‘1479 plates’ was produced in celebration of the Combe Down Stone Mines Stabilisation Project.
An exhibition featuring Chris Tipping’s map of bone china dinner plates – entitled 1479 plates – which explores the relationship between present day
engineering and mining technology, stone mines heritage, natural history and two 18th century entrepreneurs Ralph Allen and Josiah Wedgwood. A selection of work by other artists commissioned for the Combe Down public art programme will also be displayed.
