Atelier HSL | TRANS/FER
Date uploaded: September 12, 2011
Between Amsterdam and Paris, passengers are able to view artworks at the stations and in the trains on the new high-speed rail link (HSL-Zuid).
Internationally renowned artists, architects, filmmakers and a DJ/composer, have created works that forge connections between this transportation project and the many passengers who use it. At Schiphol Airport for instance, a large (3m x 21m) contemporary panorama by Yves Bélorgey (F) is on display.
Atelier HSL commissioned the artists to create artworks that relate to the HSL, each in their own way. Centring on themes of ‘speed’, ‘encounter’, ‘connection’, ‘travel’, ‘landscape’ and ‘Europe’. Trans/Fer is an international project supported by the Dutch, Belgian and French railways.
Other selected artists are Alexandra Bircken (D), Jan de Bont (NL/US), Casper le Fèvre (NL), John Körmeling (NL), Christophe Girardet and Matthias Müller (D), Pipilotti Rist (CH), Gert Robijns (B), Scanner (GB), Madelon Vriesendorp (NL/UK) and Saskia Olde Wolbers (NL).
