Biofuels Project
Date uploaded: December 3, 2014
As part of UP Projects’ Floating Cinema programme for 2014, pupils from St Paul’s Way Trust School have been conducting research into how sustainable energy can be created using everyday objects and simple ideas. Over a period of six weeks the pupils have worked alongside art and science collective Guerilla Science to conduct experiments and field trips inspired by the Floating Cinema’s green hybrid engine, which runs on fuel created from recycled cooking oil.
Following a research trip along the canals of east London the group have carried out experiments including planting of energy gardens, building bioreactors full of algae and creating their own miniature Floating Cinemas powered by batteries made from lemons.
A brand new short documentary by Chocolate Films charts the progress of the students’ research and will be screened on board the Floating Cinema on the 10th of December 2014, for further information click here.
