INTERZONE
Public Art Event, Aberdeen
27th - 29th September 2013

SMART Consultants present six inflatable sculptures, including two new commissions by Glasgow-based visual artist Iain Kettles. The artworks will be sited across Aberdeen city centre during the last weekend in September.

Iain Kettles makes sculpture for gallery exhibitions and public realm; unofficial guerrilla-style and collaborative interventions in public spaces. His work questions the relationship between our visual and spatial understanding of our environment, translating a playful sensitivity in the way we encounter public space. Using colour, the conditions and challenges of our surroundings, of architecture and references from the world beyond, Kettles translates his interpretations of inside and out, spatial phenomenon, notions of scale and the distinctions between public and private spaces.

The six inflatables sculptures will be visible between 12noon and 5pm on Friday 27th-Sunday 29th September at locations between Castlegate to the West End and George Street to the Harbour.

INTERZONE challenges the viewer to look for the unusual in unique locations, discover something new and to think differently about art in Aberdeen. You are invited to seek them out over the weekend - let's celebrate visual art in the city!

INTERZONE is brought to you by SMART Consultants in partnership with Patricia Fleming Projects, Glasgow and is funded by Aberdeen Inspired.
