U Hang open call

Date uploaded: June 4, 2014

Art Gene is now accepting applications for the U Hang @ Art Gene exhibition programme, offering artists the opportunity to hang their work in the public spaces of Art Gene's building to be seen by 2000+ people during a typical six-week run.

Entry is open to all artists, designers and makers working in any medium. Successful applications will be based on the quality of the artist's work, its use of the physical spaces available, and the strength of the contribution that will be made to Art Gene's research remit: revisioning the social, natural and built environment.

Interested artists can download an application form from the Art Gene website by clicking here.

Artist, writer and educator Ruth Pringle has joined Art Gene as curator-in-residence for the U-Hang exhibition programme. This marks Ruth's return to Art Gene, after first working with them as an Artist in Residence in 2007.

Ruth will be hunting for artists whose work links to research and activity in the social and built environment: particularly forthcoming project themes of allotments, permaculture and the adaptation of the natural world to industrial and military sites.
